The Advertising Leadership Framework ("the Framework") was established to
address the persistent levels of inequity found throughout the advertising industry.
The Framework develops and implements initiatives to foster the inclusive and
equitable participation
of minorities and people of color in the marketing, advertising
and communications industry.
Together with a diverse group of activists, advocates, agencies, corporations,
governments, and
others, the Framework seeks to effect measurable change in the
contracting, employment and investment practices of majority companies in the
advertising sector.
Organized under the auspices of the American Business Leadership Institute,
the Framework was founded and is chaired by Adonis Hoffman, a lawyer and expert
on corporate responsibility in Washington, DC. Mr. Hoffman has a long history of
advocacy and leadership on advertising and marketing issues, having served as
counsel to the American Association of Advertising Agencies
and author of Diversity: How to Do it Right--A Guidebook for Advertising Agencies.
The Framework has four distinct objectives in the marketing, advertising and
communications sector: (1) directing more advertising dollars to minority media;
(2) promoting stronger alliances with minority business enterprises;
(3) encouraging
greater levels of community investment, and
(4) advancing inclusion and equity in
minority employment.
The Framework is guided by a diverse board of advisors, including leaders from the
civil rights, legal, academic, corporate, advocacy and faith-based communities.
Funding for the Framework is derived from tax-deductible contributions, and revenue
from programs and publications.
